MBB: Farmington Drops Johnson, 83-65

Farmington, ME — The Northern Vermont University-Johnson Men's basketball team was dropped by UMaine-Farmington 83-65 in their North Atlantic Conference matchup on Friday evening.

Johnson (0-8, 0-3 NAC) was led by sophomore forward Robert Dubose (Philadelphia, PA) with 14 points and eight rebounds. Javon Daniels (13), Lawson Ouellette (11), and Winston Jones (10) also put up double-digit scoring efforts for the Badgers in the loss. 

Farmington's Amir Moss led all scorers with 21 points on 7-14 shooting from the field. Farmington also received 19 points, seven rebounds, and five steals from Milani Hicks on near-perfect shooting, as he went 6-7 from the field and 7-8 from the line. 

The Beavers opened the game on an 8-2 run as they ran the floor and forced Johnson to commit two quick fouls in the opening minutes. Two made jump shots by Winston Jones (Los Angeles, CA) and made free throws by Dubose gave the Badgers their first lead of the game. After a brief 10-0 run by the Beavers, the two squads traded baskets through the end of the first half as Farmington entered the locker room with a 46-30 lead.

Farmington continued to flex their muscle offensively in the opening ten minutes of the second half, outscoring the Badgers 22-11 to push their lead to 27. Eight quick points and an assist by Ouellette helped lead the Badgers on their 12-0 run to close the Beavers' lead to 12 with 4:55 remaining in the game. Farmington closed the game with sharp-shooting from the free throw line to put the game out of reach for the Badgers and give the Beavers the 83-65 victory. 

The Beavers edged Johnson as they shot 46.8% from the field versus Johnson's 46.0% and went 17-20 from the line as a team compared to the Badgers' 11-22. Farmington slipped past Johnson in the rebounding game, tallying 37 boards to Johnson's 29. 


The Badgers will face Thomas College in Waterville, Maine on Saturday, December 8th. The men's game is slated to tip-off at 1:00pm with the women's matchup following at 3:00pm.
