SPRINGFIELD, MASS. – The Johnson State College men's tennis team fell to Western New England 9-0 on Friday afternoon in a non-conference match.
The Badgers go to 1-10 on the season while the Golden Bears move to 6-7.
Western New England started the day with a 3-0 sweep of doubles. Gerrit Lane (Moretown, Vt.) and Richie Perez (Belmont, N.H.) fell 8-0 in first flight singles, while Alex Harcourt (Colton, N.Y.) and Benjamin Holl (Philadelphia, Pa.) fell 8-4 in the second slot. Brady Rainville (Danville, Vt.) and Matthew Fogg (Morrisville, Vt.) closed out doubles with an 8-0 loss.
The Golden Bears finished the day taking all six singles matches. Lane was swept 6-0, 6-0 in first singles, while Harcourt fell 6-1, 6-2 in second flight singles. Perez lost straight 6-1 sets in No. 3 singles.
Rainville suffered a 6-2, 6-0 loss in fourth singles. Holl and Fogg ended the day with losses in fifth and sixth singles, respectively.
The Badgers will host Lyndon State for senior day on Tuesday, April 18th at 3:00 p.m.
