JOHNSON,Vt. The Northern Vermont University-Johnson softball team faced off against conference opponent Thomas College in their second doubleheader in two days. The Terrier clinched game one by a score of 25-0.
The Terriers jumped out to an early lead scoring seven runs in the top of the first. The Badgers eventually got out of the inning but couldn't capitalize at the plate as the first three batters grounded out.
The Terriers continued to have hot bats as they scored eight runs in the next two innings while holding the Badgers scorless. Mary Richardson recorded the only hit of the game for the Badgers in the bottom of the fifth inning. The shot resulted in a double to right center field. With no outs the Badgers had a runner in scoring position but the defense of the Terriers and the strong performance from Breanna Whitmarsh resulted in outs.
With the loss the Badgers fall to 3-17 overall and 2-4 in North Atlantic Conference action. The Terriers improve to 14-8 and 5-1 in NAC play.
