JOHNSON, VT. – Vermont State University Johnson Athletics announced today the appointment of Ella Huntington as the department's new Graduate Assistant. Huntington, a decorated former student-athlete within the Vermont State University system, joins the Badgers for a two-year term. In her multi-faceted administrative role, she will report directly to the athletic administration while working extensively alongside the Sports Information Director and the coaching staff of both the Women's Tennis and Softball programs.
Huntington arrives at Johnson following a standout academic and athletic career for the VTSU Lyndon Hornets, bringing a firsthand understanding of the conference's landscape and institutional operations. During her time at Lyndon, Huntington exemplified the NCAA Division III philosophy by pairing high-level athletic performance with extensive leadership roles across campus, including key positions within Residential Life and the VTSU Lyndon Athletic Department.
"After a standout academic and athletic career for the VTSU Lyndon Hornets, I'm looking forward to having Ella join the VTSU Johnson Athletic Staff as our Graduate Assistant for the next two years," said the VTSU Johnson Athletic Director, Greg Eckman.
Huntington's background as a multifaceted student-athlete equips her with a diverse skill set that bridges the gap between administrative support and on-field execution. Her blended experience in residential student life and athletic administration makes her a highly versatile asset capable of seamlessly adapting to the fast-paced demands of both the coaching sidelines and the sports information desk.
"Ella not only has experience in the VTSU system but outside of it as well, which gives her a unique insight into other athletic department models and ideas to bring forward," Eckman noted. "In Ella's role, she will report directly to me and will be working with our Sports Information Director and Women's Tennis and Softball teams' coaching staff as well."
Over the course of her two-year tenure, Huntington's diverse responsibilities will heavily emphasize athletic communications under the guidance of the Sports Information Director. She will assist with media relations, statistical tracking, game day operations, and digital content management, while simultaneously reinforcing recruitment, practice implementation, and administrative logistics for the Badger tennis and softball teams.
