Johnson's early momentum wasn't enough to hold off a surging SUNY Delhi squad, as the Badgers fell 79-73 on Saturday afternoon at Carter Gymnasium.
SUMMARY
Johnson opened the game with strong interior play, attacking the glass early to generate second‑chance opportunities. Mohammed Semega struck first for the Badgers at 16:41 with a layup off a Jason Baker assist, and Jordan Chisholm followed with a jumper at 15:17 to trim the initial deficit to 10-4.
The Badgers' bench provided a key lift midway through the half. Chase Matlock and Jaylen Brown supplied energy on the boards, with Brown throwing down a dunk at 7:09 to pull Johnson within two, 23-21. Soon after, Chisholm connected on a three from the left wing at 11:48, assisted by Darone Frierson.
Jason Baker took control late in the half, scoring seven points in the final six minutes, capped by a deep three at 1:43, to tie the game at 33-33. After a Baker attempt in the final seconds, Chisholm buried a clutch three at :50 off a Semega offensive rebound and assist, sending Johnson into halftime ahead 36-35.
