Durden Awarded Second-Team All-NAC Honors

JOHNSON, VT – Following a historic senior campaign with school records and firsts alike, Mercedes Durden has been awarded Second-Team All-Conference from the North Atlantic Conference. Durden closed her collegiate Track and Field career this past weekend with a bang at DIII ECAC Championships in Owings Mills, MD. Representing Johnson at this meet for the first time in school history, the senior thrower rose to the occasion, securing 2nd and 3rd place finishes in the discus and shot put, respectively. Durden had been on a recent tear, earning a 2nd place finish at the NAC Track and Field Championships with a monster throw of 34.96m in the discus - a best this season by 1.86m that broke her own school record in the event - alongside a fourth place shot put finish in the same meet. The two throws totaled 13 points for Durden at the conference championships. Durden's mark in the discus earned her a spot at the New England DIII Outdoor Championships, where she represented Johnson among the regions most gifted athletes. Deserved accolades for the graduating senior - Congrats Mercedes!
