The Vermont State Johnson men's and women's track & field teams delivered strong showings at the Dartmouth December Invite this weekend, competing against top programs including Dartmouth, SNHU, and RPI.
Sprint Highlights
In the 60-meter dash, Jenna Jones led the Badgers with a time of 8.62, placing 12th overall in prelims and breaking the previous school record of 8.79. Teammates Dahlia Maynard (8.80) and Olivia Davis (9.02) also represented Johnson in a competitive field.
Senior Kali Wooster had a standout performance in the 500 meters, finishing 5th overall with a time of 1:24.08, just behind runners from SNHU and Dartmouth, setting a school record just outside the New England Regional qualifying time. Johnson placed three athletes in the 300 meters: Shelby Royea (46.95 - school record), Peyton Fairchild (48.43), and Olivia Davis (53.08), showcasing the program's depth and in the sprint endurance event.
Mid-Distance Highlights
In the 1000 meters, Leighton Fenyus clocked 3:46.38 on the women's side, with Jonny Cayole winning his section on the men's side with a time of 3:01.25. Both marks would stand as new program records for the Badgers.
Throws Highlights
In the women's shot put, Sophia Johnson led Johnson with a throw of 9.71m, just .04 off the program record, with teammates Teo Holmes (6.42m) and Rose Oakland (5.38m) rounding out the event.
Relay Highlights
The Badgers capped the day with a strong performance in the 4x400 relay, as the team of Shelby Royea, Peyton Fairchild, Ida Eames, and Kali Wooster finished 4th overall in 4:38.53, beating Colby-Sawyer and closing the meet with the final record on the day, besting the program's previous mark of 4:43.44.
