Ludlow Surpasses 1000 Career Point Mark, Badgers Sweep Lesley

BANNER

Max Ludlow surpassed the 1000 career points mark while the Badgers swept Lesley University Saturday afternoon.

SUMMARY

Vermont State University Johnson delivered a dominant performance in a straight-set victory over Lesley University, winning 25-16, 25-10, and 25-13. The victory was part of a milestone weekend for senior Max Ludlow, who surpassed the 1000 career points mark, extending their #1 rank on Johnson's all-time list to 1066 total points.

During Saturday's matchup, first year Haylee Hansen had a strong offensive showing with 13 kills and 16 total points, while setter Delaney Gross directed the attack with 27 assists and added 5 points. Senior Alana Lewis anchored the back row with a match-high 17 digs.

In the opening set, Johnson quickly built momentum behind kills from Ludlow, Hansen, and Lepega-Telona. A mid-set surge, including a service ace from Gross and a string of attacking errors by Lesley, helped the Badgers pull away. Hansen closed the set with back-to-back aces and a final kill from Ludlow to seal the 25-16 win.

After jumping out to an 8-1 lead behind Ludlow's controlling serve and Lepega-Telona's finish, the Badgers went on a 10-1 run that included multiple aces from Kalahiki and kills from Hansen, Reed, and Lewis. Despite a brief push from Lesley, Johnson closed the set 25-10 on a Hansen kill.

The final set began opened with Badger 7-0 run, controlled by Gross's setting and Lepega-Telona's dominance at the net. Kalahiki's late serving run, including two aces, and Hansen's consistent attacking helped the Badgers close out the match 25-13.
