The Badgers showed resilience in the final quarter but fell 101-40 to St. Michael's on Sunday night in Colchester.
SUMMARY
Johnson opened the game with strong defensive energy, forcing early misses before Abbie Hernandez knocked down a jumper to make it 2-3. Jaylah Jones added a layup at 6:44 to keep the Badgers close at 4-6, but St. Michael's responded with a 16-2 run to end the first quarter ahead 22-6.
In the second quarter, Jacquelyn Oberg scored on a mid-range jumper and Kamryn Devero added a layup to spark Johnson's offense, but the Purple Knights hit four threes as part of an offensive push to take a 48-14 lead into halftime.
The third quarter saw Johnson fight back with buckets from Jones and Oberg, and Hernandez drilled a three at the buzzer to give the Badgers 24 points heading into the fourth. In the final frame, Johnson had its best offensive stretch of the night, highlighted by Jones' layup, Zator's three-pointer, and two more triples from Hernandez. Despite the late push, St. Michael's closed strong to seal the 101-40 win.
