The Badgers fell 92-35 to Maine Maritime on Monday night in Castine, ME.

SUMMARY

Johnson opened the first game of the new year with defensive energy, but early turnovers allowed Maine Maritime to build momentum. After Kristie Zator scored on a layup at 5:13 to make it 2–12, Abbie Hernandez added a jumper to keep the Badgers within reach. While Johnson maintained intensity, the Mariners closed the first quarter with a 19-7 lead.

In the second quarter, Hernandez and Zator added jumpers, but Maine Maritime's depth and transition game pushed the lead to 40-11 at halftime. The Badgers found an offensive spark in the third, as Hernandez drilled a three and Zator added another from deep, helping the Badgers score 17 points in the frame. Emily Ward also connected from beyond the arc late in the quarter.

Despite Johnson's effort, Maine Maritime continued to control the glass and convert turnovers into points, sealing the 92-35 win.
