| Title: | Assistant Coach - Women's Soccer |
Dana Bourne enters her second season as an Assistant Coach for the Vermont State University Johnson Women’s Soccer program. A life-long soccer player and passionate teacher of the game, Bourne brings years of experience coaching at the youth and high school levels, with a strong focus on player development and defensive strategy.
Before joining the Badgers, Bourne spent two years as the Head Junior Varsity Coach at Lamoille Union High School and one year as an Assistant Varsity Coach at Peoples Academy High School. She also coached for three years with the Vermont United Soccer Academy, where she worked with youth players to build technical skills, confidence, and game awareness.
Bourne’s defensive mindset defines her coaching style. She is dedicated to helping players learn how to win the ball, stop plays, and earn shutouts through smart, disciplined defense.
A native of Morrisville, Vermont, Bourne graduated from Peoples Academy High School, where she was a multi-sport athlete competing in soccer, Nordic skiing, golf, and track and field. As a two-time Division III Girls Soccer State Champion (2008, 2009), she captained her team in 2009 and earned Vermont All-State Honorable Mention honors that same year.
Bourne went on to earn her Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Saint Michael’s College and a Master’s in Public Health from the University of Vermont.
Outside of coaching, Bourne lives in Eden, Vermont, with her partner, Erik, and their dog, Penny. She continues to play soccer year-round in both coed and women’s leagues and enjoys spending time outdoors - snowboarding, kayaking, and camping across Vermont’s mountains and lakes.
